FAQ

How to Choose Floor Coating?

The following factors should be considered when choosing a brand of floor coating. Usage Environment: Indoor or outdoor, and any special requirements like anti-static or corrosion resistance. Durability: Choose a type suitable for the frequency of use and load the floor will bear. Environmental Impact: Prefer low-VOC or zero-VOC products, especially for home use. Aesthetics: Ensure the color and gloss match your decor. Budget: Different types and brands vary in price; choose a product with good cost-performance ratio. Brand and After-Sales Service: Opt for reputable brands to ensure quality and support.

Can Floor Coatings Be Applied by Yourself?

While it is theoretically possible to apply floor coatings yourself, it is recommended to have the application done by experienced professionals to ensure proper adhesion, smoothness, and overall quality.

What Are the Types of Floor Coatings?

Common types of floor coatings include: Epoxy Floor Coatings Polyurethane Floor Coatings Water-Based Floor Coatings Functional Floor Coatings (e.g., anti-static, anti-slip)

Can Floor Coatings Be Used Both Indoors and Outdoors?

Most floor coatings are suitable for indoor use, but there are specific coatings designed for outdoor use that can withstand UV rays and harsh weather conditions. Ensure the coating you choose is suitable for the intended environment.

What are the Steps for Applying Floor Coating?

The general steps for applying floor coating include: Base Treatment: Cleaning, grinding, and repairing the substrate. Primer Application: Applying the primer. Intermediate Coating: Applying intermediate coats if needed. Topcoat Application: Applying the topcoat. Curing: Allowing adequate curing time between each step. Each step should ensure the previous layer is thoroughly dry, and follow the product instructions.

How Long Does It Take for Floor Coating to Fully Cure?

The drying time of floor coatings depends on the type, ambient temperature, humidity, and other factors. Generally, the surface dry time can range from a few hours to a day, while full curing may take several days to a week. Refer to the product instructions for specific drying times.

What is the Shelf Life of Floor Coating?

The shelf life of floor coatings is generally 1-2 years from the date of manufacture, depending on the brand and product type. When purchasing, check the production date and validity period on the packaging to ensure the coating is within its effective period before use.

Can Floor Coating Be Used at Home?

Floor coatings are mostly used in industrial and commercial settings, and less commonly in homes. However, safe, non-toxic, and low-odor floor coatings like water-based coatings and epoxy terrazzo can be used in home environments.

Is the Smell of Floor Coating Strong?

The intensity of the smell from floor coatings depends on their type. Oil-based floor coatings typically contain benzene solvents, which emit a strong, pungent odor during curing. Water-based and zero VOC (volatile organic compound) floor coatings have a relatively mild smell and are more environmentally friendly and healthy.

What is Floor Coating and What is Its Purpose?

Floor coating is a special type of paint primarily used for protecting and decorating surfaces. It is composed of oil, resin, pigments, solvents, and other components, offering properties such as brightness, authenticity, aesthetics, wear resistance, waterproofing, and corrosion resistance. The main purposes of floor coating include: Protective Function: Forms a dense film that isolates the surface from external environments like UV rays, moisture, chemicals, etc., extending the lifespan of the floor material. Decorative Function: Provides rich colors, gloss, and texture, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the space. Other Special Functions: Includes waterproofing, fire resistance, mildew resistance, wear resistance, pressure resistance, dust prevention, anti-slip, and anti-static properties, suitable for various specific needs.
